Listen to the Rain

Listen to the rain,

drip,
drip,
drip,
it goes.

A far-away voice,
with every summer’s breath,
it whispers.
To the the stars
and to that black, black sky.

And with this voice
the message it brings
with every drop that drips.
On the pavement
and on the streets.

Listen to the rain
as it solemnly declares its winter gone.
As it speaks to the walls
that silent prayer
of every summer may return.
